July Shimmerz Challenge...

Back again today with another challenge I completed this month...:))

This was a challenge that I have been meaning to participate in for a while now, well since it started doing challenges....Shimmerz Paints!

This month was a fairly easy one, and masking is something I just about do on every layout, so I hopped straight to it!

"Summer Memories"

Okay the Shimmerz products I used on this layout are:

Colouringz - No Yoking
Colouingz - Heidi-Ho Blue
Vibz - Abomidable Blue
Shimmerz - Sunny
Pearlz - Blue By U

On this layout I used a Prima 6 x 6 Checker Mask.  I randomly sprayed the Heidi Ho Blue, Abomidable Blue in a few different spots and then watered it down more by spraying some water over the places where I misted.  This was starting to create my water coloured effect.  To highlight it even further I went in a painted on some Sunny and Blue By U.  Again I watered these down by spraying on some water and letting it pool in different areas.

Next I used the middle part of a paper towel (umm cant think of the name of it but you know what I mean..well I hope you do...lol!!) I sprayed down the inside to create a ring effect and then as it dribbled down, I stamped a circle with the excess for more definition.

LOVE this gorgeous chipboard butterfly from the Crate Paper On Trend collection.

The day I did this I wanted to create something different.  I wanted to experiment and get my confidence back in scrapping.  So I just chopped up some square/rectangle pieces of paper (no measuring here) and pasted them down as my background.  Went over them with some gesso to matte it all together.  Then I pulled out my stamps.  This Prima rectangle stamp I have had for AGES, like a few years I think...never been used.  I think I have fallen in love with stamping.. This stamp is my new favourite!

I have also gone back to a bit of doodling...ruling some lines and going around the mask using a lead pencil...very therapeutic!

Overall I am happy with this layout and it definitely gave me the confidence to experiment more.

Thanks so much for visiting!

July Prima BAP

Hello my lovely friends,

As promised in my last post, I managed this month to get in and do a couple of challenges.  I am nearly scared and nervous to post these up as its been so long since I have participated in a challenge.  But here goes, here is the first one....

The day I decided to sit down and do a challenge, I opened up Facebook and decided to do the first challenge that was sitting in my posts.  So this time, it happened to be the Prima BAP.

The sketch looked awesome and I turned it so my cluster was at the bottom and went from there.  I loved how this one came out.

"He thinks the World of you"

I have been dying to use the Donna Downey Hollyhock stencil for ages now.  I created the background using the 6x6 mask and modelling paste.

Then next it has a few layers and shades of Shimmerz to create the shadow effect.  To create this look, and its my favourite way to use Shimmerz, I paint some Shimmerz on and around the image, and with a small spray bottle of water, I start misting away to create pools of colour.  I then push these pools around with my paintbrush, until I get the desired effect.  I LOVE creating water coloured backgrounds.

Beautiful Prima blooms, trinkets and pearls...

Somehow I still have heaps of the resist canvas pieces from a few releases a go now...still love to use them!

Prima papers used here are Almanac Collection...such soft vintagey papers...swoon!

I love to follow this BLOG... the colour combination in this post was were I got my inspiration from.:)) So if you are driven by colour like I am, and in need of some gorgeous colour combination inspiration...head on over.. I love it!

Thanks so much for visiting

2Crafty Chipboard & more Maggie Holmes Crate Paper Inspiration

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all well.  I have been feeling a little under the weather this week ..sigh.... your immunity just isn't the same when you are pregnant.

Anyway, its my turn again to share a layout I created on the 2Crafty Blog as part of my Guest Design work..  And as promised here is some more Maggie Holmes Crate Paper inspiration.  Just love the gorgeous deep turquoise colour in the papers.

"Your Smile"

On this layout I am using 3 gorgeous 2Crafty chipboard pieces.

- Tattered Hearts
- Vintage Birds
- Floral Branch

Below is the one of the Tattered Hearts which has so many different layers on it. I wanted to go for a two toned look so I primed it first with Gesso, then it has a layer of modelling paste for extra dimension, I then sprayed it with some Vintage Pink Tattered Angels Glimmermist, then using my finger I rubbed some Turquoise Shimmerz in random places and lastly I inked the edges using a chalk ink pad.

The same techniques were used for the Vintage Bird, although he got a little extra sparkle and I added some glitter to his tail :)

I chose to keep using the same techniques for all 3 pieces of chipboard so they would all blend in.  But in this case with the Floral Branch, I only applied everything VERY lightly as I wanted the detail of the flowers to still be visible.  I added some Liquid Pearl in the centre of the flower for added detail.

Next layout I created for Manor House Creations. This is a photo of my eldest son with his cousin taken at Easter time while we were away camping.  Just love the relaxed feel of this photo...my favourite of them both :)  still using Maggie Holmes Crate Papers..

I got a little inky and messy creating this layout and it felt so good :) using one of MHC new vines which I chopped in half and added one piece to the bottom of the photo and other to the top to create a visual flow.  This flower cluster is made of up some new release flowers as well as some from previous releases.  I love how all the different styles and texture of the flowers go together. Everything got a little going over with a paint brush and some gesso for a shabby feel!

Okay well that's enough for one day, I still have lots of catching up to do tho so I will be back very soon...I have even done some challenges for this month...yay me!

Till next time

Manor House & Maggie Holmes Inspiration

Hello everyone,

Happy Monday to you all :)) Back to school and kindy today for my little boys...we loved the holidays, they went too quick but its good to be back into routine again.

Last month I got the urge to scrap again...its been a while where I have actually enjoyed what I was doing.  So I cracked open my huge box of newly released Manor House flowers and some Maggie Holmes Crate Paper and scrapped up a storm.

Here is my first layout....

Even tho we don't know whether we are having a boy or a girl I couldn't help but use the beautiful array of pink flowers that Manor House sent me for this layout.  They have some new vines in a few different colours and they are my absolute all time favourite!

"12 weeks"

Love the colour combo here of pinks, limes and turquoise.  Most of the flowers on this layout are new but I have also teamed them up with a few from previous releases. Spot the Rainbow Splendor felt butterflies :)

Sigh...the goose feathers are simply stunning...so soft and delicate.  This inspired me to create a few little "falling" feathers from vellum to add to my layout especially with that little birdie sitting in my flower cluster..

I have framed my scan photo with a Melissa Frances frame which has been sitting in my drawer for far too long.

Next is a layout I created where I didn't have a plan to start with, just started with a background of gesso and Shimmerz mist and went for it.  Yes me and pink on boy layouts...strange aren't I!!! :))

"Love you so Much"

This time I focused more on the new Ornate Frames that Manor House recently released.  I chopped a couple in half and used them as a scallop under and on top of my photo.

Love this super sweet pic of my boys, they are the light of my life :))

Well I have a couple more creations using the yummy Crate Paper by Maggie Holmes but I will leave them for another post.

I have simply LOVED working with this paper range, in fact I only have a few scraps left!

Thanks so much for taking the time to visit me.
Have a beautiful week
