Show Us Your Stuff - October Challenge...

Hi everyone,

I had a chance to play the other weekend with a fun sketch at an Australian challenge site called Show Us Your Stuff.  Included with the sketch you must use at least 1 handmade item on your project.

It has to been ages and I mean ages since I have played along with this challenge blog or any challenges for that matter.  Was wonderful to break out some new papers and be free :))

Here is the sketch....love that big triangle (kind of what drew me..lol)

I flipped it and made it my own!

"1 month"

Oh I had loads of fun with this layout.  Stunning new papers from Websters teamed with new Prima flowers and cute chipboard pieces.

Found a lone little feather in my drawer so I couldn't resist misting it and adding it to my layout.

My handmade item is the cute little deer flair button from Delish Scraps and a bow as well.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you all have a wonderful and creative weekend :)

Mixed Media Mini Canvas's

Hi my dear friends :)

I created these pretty little canvas's the other day for Flying Unicorn.  I was short on time but still felt like being creative. So I decided to make these quick and simple canvas's.  They make great gifts and at the same time I was able to experiment with different colours and techniques as well.

"Believe"

Lots of pretties on these canvas's.  I will run you through a list of  gorgeous products I used which can be found in the Flying Unicorn Store as well as a short written step by step....sorry I didn't photograph the steps this time.

Firstly each canvas was primed with Gesso.  I then used a Crafters Workshop stencil and some Gel Medium and started to build up my background.  Once this was dry I then randomly applied my different mists.  For the 1st one I used the following colours:

To finish off the background of these canvas's I did some random stamping using a Prima Stamp - Vintage Vanity.

Then my favourite part....adding some beautiful flowers, Prima and Petaloo and Flying Unicorn Adornments :))

Lastly, I highlighted the pinks and purples by using Silks Acrylic Glaze in Ginger Flower and adding a spray of water to blend.  I have also brushed over my flowers with some Gesso to finish it off.

"Dream"

This canvas was done using the same steps but I used the following different colours:
- Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst - Cocoa Bean Copper (which is currently not in the store at the moment)

The Flying Unicorn Store stocks a huge range of mix media products so be sure to check them out.

Hope you are having a creative week! :)

Flying Unicorn DT Project

Hello everyone,

I'm back with you today to share with you one of my recent Flying Unicorn projects...something a little more neutral/boyish and vintage.  I have started off with some Authentique Papers from the Accomplished Collection for my base and background and have teamed them up with the gorgeous Riddersholm Papers from the Tailgate Marked Collection as my layers behind the photo. The kraft papers in the Authentique range are great to add whatever colours you want.

"Heart of Gold"

I love the Creative Embellishments chipboard.  I have used the Heart of Gold title as well as the Antique Bike.

I adore the Flying Unicorn Adornments.  I simply brushed them over with some Gesso and then added some colour using Acrylic Paint. In fact everything has had a brush over with Gesso...gives it that shabby look.

And lots of beautiful flowers...sigh...just love adding them to all my projects.  I have used some Prima flowers from my own stash but you will note there are some gorgeous black Petaloo flowers from the store as well as some new Prima.

That's it from me today...hope you feel inspired to get crafty!

Once Upon a Sketch - October Challenge

Hi everyone and  Happy Monday to you all :))

The Flying Unicorn CT are guests this month at Once Upon a Sketch Challenge site. They are an amazing site with so much inspiration to help you with your creating!  This months challenge is.....

Journalling Theme: "The women/girls etc in our lives..."

You are free to interpret our theme ANY WAY you like. It is for your inspiration and this theme word DOES NOT need to be part of your title or journalling. But please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes journalling (hidden journalling is fine). Acceptable journalling is MORE than just a sentence, or generic writing such as date/place etc. It needs to be present and at least 3 lines long. Remember, hidden journalling (under a photo/tag or behind your page) is perfectly fine but please DO let us know in your post where your journalling is!

And here is my layout of the girls in my life...my sisters and my mum and I at my younger sisters wedding in May this year. Some private journalling on the back...can't do without these girls in my life...

"Great Day Together"

Lots of beautiful Prima products here...Prima papers, flowers and embellishments.  I have also added some Petaloo flowers.  All these products can be found in the Flying Unicorn Store.

Blue Fern circle chipboard and the really really gorgeous vellum bow from Rainbow Splendour which i have added a D'lish fabric bow on top!

Thanks for stopping by once again...you make my day :)
Hugs and have a great week!

Something Pretty :)

Hi everyone,

Back to school today for my older two munchkins...the house is sure quiet! Thought I would stop by and share a layout I created last month but never got around to sharing. Just felt the urge to create something pretty and summery :)

"Nothin' but Blue Skies

Created this layout with some new papers from Simple Stories.  Haven't had that brand of papers before in my stash but loved the colours and pretty designs in this paper range.  Photo was taken a year ago while holidaying down at the Sunshine Coast waiting for my baby to arrive :)

Mixed bag of products, love to mix everything up...prima, petaloo and manor house flowers, 2 crafty chipboard, purple pumpkin button and a Dlish Scraps bow.

Oh and we had another birthday in the house on the weekend.  My middle boy turned 6 and had the best day...he just couldn't WAIT for his birthday...feels like we have been counting down for months...lol! :)

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by :)

Websters Inspiration :))

Hi my dear crafty friends :))

I have a couple of layouts to share with you today....I have to be honest and say I created these layouts a good couple of months ago now :(

Anyway moving right along, I still want to share them with you as at the time I loved creating them.
Websters papers haven't been a paper range that I have been drawn to in the past but with these latest releases I think I just about have everything or may be even doubles *wink* :))

The new baby collection "Hello World" is soooo adorable. I can't wait to use it again.

"You are so Loved"

Lots of gorgeous flowers here Prima and Manor House and some super cute Hot Air Balloon chipboard..can't remember the manufacture.

This layout was created with the "Sweet Routine" papers, as well as some American Crafts scraps....swoon they are so delightful!! I have never been a fan of purple but its making a come back in a lot of paper ranges and the shades are just so stunning.

"Cherish"

2Crafty Chipboard flourish, Straws and Heidi Swapp word title made this layout really come together :)

And look who turned 1 the other week!!!! Can't believe my baby has reached his 1st birthday already...man that year just flew and I can honestly say I have thoroughly enjoyed his first baby year. oh yeah we have had our moments but all in all he has been such a good bubba!

School holidays are nearly over :((( but we have had the most fun! Can't believe we are heading into the last school term of this year!
Bye for now :)
